Robert Prior and Father Rutler have been collaboratively inseparable for the past 15 years, from their first days at the Church of Our Savior in 2001, up to the present day here at St. Michael.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Douglaston, Long Island, Robert began developing his musical skills at a young age. He started playing piano when he was just 7, while simultaneously serving as an alter server and choir boy at the Church of St. Anastasia. He even performed with an Irish clog dancing troupe at the 1964 World's Fair in Queens. He went on to graduate from Queens College, majoring in Music.
Before Our Savior, Robert served as director of music and organist for several parishes in the Brooklyn Diocese after teaching at Chaminade Catholic High School in Mineola, NY. He then served as musiclal director for Manhattan Chamber & Orchestra of Sacred Music, where he conducted a successful Sacred Music Concert series at the Church of the Holy Innocents.
